A directly connected cable should work fine. You must have one gigabit ethernet anything slower will not work with your USRP.

The USRP is detected using the NI driver. But when I go back the laptop with the UHD I downloaded to be able to use GNU radio, it says no device detected. I really need help here on how to connect to teh USRP device using UHD. or is it possible to use GNU radio with NI Driver??

Ensure you are using UHD 3.4.4 and check the IP address settings on your laptop.
