Social Events aka ways to have fun without a Labview Palette!

Just thought I would toss out a pair of ideas to the rest of you fine folk, incase you get the urge to meet up at a non-Labview event for once.  And no, I am not an ad exec, I just like to play one in my spare time.

1.  Pittsburgh Geek Night

Imagine a bar full of IT and technology professionals.. sitting and laughing and talking and enjoying each others company.. talking about everything from code structure to the newest communication protocols to how the Steelers are looking this season...  now toss in free pizza and discounted pints, and you have Pittsburgh Geek Night.

Pittsburgh Geek Night has been going on since 1998, and its quiet possible that some of our more senior members have been there before.. and it might be what some of our newer members, and maybe even new Pittsburghers might be looking for.

The next meeting is Thursday June 4th at the Church Brew Works in Lawrenceville, and it runs from 5pm till last call.  So if anyone is interested, put up a post, and maybe I'll see you there.

2.  Pittsburgh Riverhounds Soccer

Looking for a fun night out with family and friends for ticket prices less than the Pirates, and a defined time interval?  Then come check out Pittsburghs very own professional soccer team the USL Division 2 Pittsburgh Riverhounds.  The 'Hounds as I like to call them have been in Pittsburgh for 10 years now, and are currently playing their matches at Chartiers Valley High School, so right off of Route 79 South, at the Kirwain Heights exit.  I am a member of the Steel Army supporters group, and we are always looking for new soccer (football) fans to come and cheer with us, or just hang out in the bleachers. Its a great group that actually has alot of IT professionals in it, and we would love to have you and your families join us for a match.

check it all out at www.riverhounds.com and www.steelarmy.com

Oh, and we are also starting up a group to support the US Men's National Team in their quest to the World Cup.

Just an update to this idea:

There will be a viewing party to watch the US Men's National Team vs Honduras in a World Cup Qualifier on June 6th, at the Radisson Greentree Hotel.

Pregame starts at 7pm, with the game starting at 8pm.  If any of you are interested in soccer, or just want a night out, you are more than welcome to come and hang out... and I know you know how to get there!
