Append VIEW sheet?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had created a neat script or something to allow a "append layout" function in VIEW?  I just haven't spent the time to figure it out myself, though it seems like it should be able to be done...  I think this would be really neat to have in a future DIAdem version (if it's not already planned).

Thanks!

Hello Julia!

Assuming 'append layout' is 'add a new sheet to an existing layout' then you can use the View.Sheets.Add command.

Is that what you wanted?

Hi Matthias!

No, I am actually looking for a "copy VIEW sheet" perhaps, or something very similar to how "append layout" works in REPORT, as either would achieve my purpose.  In REPORT, when you "append layout", a previously saved TDR layout file gets "appended" to the current open layout.  So it would be neat if I could "append" a previously saved VIEW TDV layout file to my already existing sheets in the current VIEW.  Or, if I could just "copy" one sheet in VIEW (or REPORT, that would be neat, too), that would also work.

My reasoning is: I am often creating a REPORT or VIEW sheet that has lots of graphs (or areas in VIEW) and it's so neat, I want to make another one just like it, but with different channels, colors, etc.  So, in REPORT there is kind of a work-around to this: I just create a new sheet, go back to the sheet I want to "copy", do a "CTRL+A" to select everything on that sheet, and then do a "CTRL+C" to copy, go to new sheet and "CTRL+V" on new sheet to paste.  Very nice.  In VIEW there is no such feature or workaround (that I know of).  I hope this is more clear...!

Thank you!
Julia

Hello Julia!

Now it is clear and you are right! This would be a verry nice feature and I missed it too.

My 'workaround' is to generate the view I need with a script. Not verry comfortable, but for me it is OK.

I will vote with you for a cut/copy/paste implementation in VIEW (but it should be possible to call it from script) in the next DIAdem version.

Hi Julia, Hi Matthias,

I completely agree, and I will add these requests to my personal list of items I'm lobbying R&D for.
