Ben a écrit: I feel for you CC!
You have freely offered your time and talent to serve the LV comunity and a bear starts up a tread to tear you apart!
It is not easy opening up your work for others to comment. I hope we end up serving you more than we have hurt.

Again, don't worry Ben ! I'm always happy to learn. Specially when the lecture is given by a recognized expert.

And anyway, I have an excellent excuse : ListVIEW is still a beta version... 😉

And since I'm not working full time on it, there are a number of things that I was obliged to skip, just to have it running in time...

Your turn now.
I love the stackers, that's a really good way of making the diagram clean. Sure I will steal them. However, I believe that the VI analyser would have spotted them as "failed tests" because their icon is not standard !

Two comments on this diagram : you could have improved the wiring by exchanging the positions of the Channel names and waveforms controls at the top left. This allows the suppression of one wire crossing just before the lower For loop... 😄

I'm more concerned by the way you managed the Error in and out at the vi level. Quite surprizing, in contrast with all the work done on the diagram ! 😉

Ben,

And don't believe I missed the fact that the control positions should match their positions on the vi connector pane ;):D

Tst,
Thanks for your support.
An humble frog alone cannot whithstand the assaults of a bear, although that could be a really crazy thing.
Where are my others supporters ?
May be I will survive until JLV pops in...

UNTIL WHAT???  !!!    Hein???   Quoi???  Comment???

Okay... I finally showed up...

Monsieur Grenouille,

You are opening yourself up for criticism...  And maybe learning an important lesson..  When code becomes public, it's no longer "beta"..

Let me share a little story (you'd better pull a Toadstool for this one... I tend to be long-winded, but not as much as Ben 😉  I'll try anyway)..

I learned a valuable lesson many moons ago...

While working at a company, coding in Labview, I was... euh.. I had to "assist" a "SW Diva" on developping LV code.  Although a new-grad, the Male-Diva was an expert in every field, or so he led to believe.

Well, one day, I had to show him how to code a function..  After many hours of arguement, I told him I would show my point by quickly drawing a vi.  I explained many times that the purpose of the vi was to illustrate a point and not as a fully functional piece of code.  I left it at that... and agreed that he could use the example as a starting point to develop his vi.

Many months went by..  Fall - Winter - Spring...

Lo & Behold!!!  I hear that there is a major bug in the software and it is in my code.  The VP-Operations asks me why I do not validate my work..  Clueless, I asked an explanation of what this was about.  They had pinpointed an error coming out of a vi that I had created.

I examined the vi in question.... and quickly discovered that it was my example.... UNCHANGED!!!!  😐  😠

I was suddently responsible for someone using an incomplete example in some other code....

How does this fit in with your postings??

Well, they might interpret that your unfinished code (vi) is actually how you really code..  After all, what else can they base it on 😉

Hope you found the story entertaining and didn't fall asleep.

(Oh NO!!) tst might read this post... Maybe I should have put a disclamer  😐

-grand sourire-

E-LIST issue n°39

Shame on me ! Not only ListVIEW is now considered as the paradigm of what should not be done ( as programming style - tanks Ben 😠 😞 ;)), but tunning the E-List builder has resulted in an unexpected error on the activity calculation that I'm discovering just now. And since I have no time to correct this unacceptable mistake, I'm obliged to post the List as it is ! :(:(:(

This does not change the overall situation, but everybody is now active. Even the "fossils" (otherwise still idle !).

Cheer up CC..

Be happy (ne soit pas triste!), at least you keep us all entertained 😉   I meant informed...  And that is what really matters.

And there may be some sections in the Knowledge Base to help you with your coding style...  🙂

....  hey....  is that JP I see up ahead 😄 😄 :D...  ...  and are those stars???

JLV, you are a traitor, even worse than Ben !

I asked for your help, but your support  is too much ambiguous. Don't pretend to console me with sentences such as
"at least you keep us all entertained ..."
or
"there may be some sections in the Knowledge Base to help you with your coding style...".

I was expecting something different. Some kind of a "charge de la cavalerie légère" against the criticizers.  I though you would help me fight the incredible bear... What a deception...

Hmmm... Actually I think you didn't even have a look at the ListVIEW diagram !
Fortunately, Altenbach and LV_pro did. Hummmm... ha... hmmm, even Tst made some encouraging comments... at least I think that they may be considered as supportive.... well...you know him... difficult to tell... Anyway, now, I know who are my true friends here !

And forget about the five stars, that was just a compulsive move... :D:D:D

Dear CC,

La cavalerie etait au repos 😉  LOL!!!  😄 😄 😄

Being worse than Ben???  wel... hummmm  that's an honor.... I think 😐

I do like your "About"  And I am using LV2.0B.

I will have to re-read the posts to find out what "Enthusiasm" means..  I appear to compete with tbob.

Hey buddy, you have to .... euh....  hum....  I know "relax" is not the right word 😉

Anyway, regardless of what the big bear thinks, I do like the presentation.  It is a lot of effort, though...  as long as you're having fun 😉

I do like the breakdown of where we spend our time... 11.7% in breakpoint!!!! outch!!!  I will let you continue in the lead.

As for your coding ability, I think you are doing fine (above average actually).  Just don't give the bear anything to pick on you 🙂

It takes courage to "show / share" code amongst highly critical individuals, bears, rabbits and cute little girls.  I admire that 🙂

I may have experimented a wee bit too much with it and seem to have frozen the help window.  It will not close..  I inadvertently held the shift button and clicked on a row while the help window was open.

Humm.... comment gagner des etoiles maintenant?????  ou-la-la... 😄

I always thought your original simple excel spreadsheet was fine.  How many posts total, how many actual posts, and that was pretty much it.  I admire the work and complexity of the E-List.  Looks nice & impressive.  Lots of nice work.  nice modules.. overkill maybe??  😉

I will send the chavelry to fight off any big bears...  I got lots of honey from Cosco..  enough to keep bears away for the winter

😄

CC

Don't sweat it, you are doing great and it is appreciated

Some starts for my favorite frog. We have many toads around our house. They like to eat bugs but leave big toad turds all over the place. Frogs are much nicer.
