Hello Molly ! Is that a technical or an ethical problem ?

I don't think this has been noted before - if you do an advanced search with the unlimited time frame and then try to sort the results, the new page opens with the 180 days time frame, so you lose some of the results. Molly?

Molly,

Could you please extend the time limit on post editing?

In this thread

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=144653

I had all of my images ready to go and just could not get them all linked in before my time ran out. This isn't even a very long answer.

The time limit and post size limit are getting in my way on a regular basis now that I have figured out how to post images.

On the other hand...

If you let us post multiple attachments and link them all at once (i.e. no edits required) I would only be frustrated by the posting size limit. And as far as I can tell noboby else has been hit by that problem.

You should have expected this type of request after adding the image posting functionality. It is like the mechanic who doubles the horse power of an engine being asked to now beef-up the drive shaft because they are now breaking on a regular basis.

Ben -

The reason we have the 5 minute limit is to reduce the potential to have the NNTP and forum messages terribly out of synch.  You have 5 minutes to start the edit and a much longer time frame to actually submit the edit.  I'm not sure if the clock starts over after you have submitted it, but I'm guessing it doesn't or you wouldn't be running into this problem.  I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I think your best bet for the time being would be to get all the attachments linked to the message within the time frame and then embed links to as many as you can.

I will make sure the "allowing multiple attachments without editing the message" is on the list of features we are asking for.

Have a great weekend,

For some reason, I know that I read about this caveat to this feature somewhere, but I couldn't find it.  😞
You are exactly correct.  When you sort the search results using the column headers, you are automatically limited to the last 180 days of results.  This is designed this way to optimize performance since a sort of a large set of results can be very taxing.
I don't know of a workaround for you for the time being, but I will add this request to things we consider as we work to improve the search capabilities.
Thanks,

1) This line of thought  assumes all post worth searching have been posted in the last 6 months. Smiley Surprised

2) This situation is not consitant with high level of quality exhibited by the exchange! Smiley Very Happy May I suggest a more powerful server?Smiley Very Happy

Add my name to list of people looking to have the search limitation fixed.

Hi Molly,

New requests.

1) Is it possible to set up a view that would give us a thmbnail view of all of the images that are being posted to the Exchange? This could become a very powerful tool as more post start to include images. Imagine being able to to scroll through all of the images and click on the thumbnails to take you to the discusion thread.

2) A common location where we could post images before answering questions. This way the pre-posted attachments' upload times do not count against our edit times. All of the images here would automatically link to #1 above.

Re: FP editing.  When huge controls (clusters) are passed to sub-VIs, it can be cumbersome to find and maintain things on the FP of the callee.  I'd like the option of "minimizing" FP controls - perhaps to a "thumbnail", or just scaled-down as design-vew does.  Minimized controls could be expanded by mouse-over, or right-click option.
