I think the forums should tell you that someone posted between the time you hit reply and the time you actually posted the message so we don't end up with multiple people saying the same thing at the same time. You can also let them view the post that was made and change their post if they want to before actually posting it.
Hopefully this makes sense.

I have called those post collisions and they are a good thing. They say in a very unique form that more than one person was thinking the same thing. These collision are auto-confirming.

What you are saying makes sense. In the sense that I can understand what you are saying. But I'd have to agree with Ben that I don't think we need it. I know that when I post the same answer after someone else has done so I either leave it alone or just edit the message indicating that I had been delayed in my posting and didn't see that someone else answered it. In the end, the signal to noise ration caused by the duplicate posts is so low that it's probably not even measurable.
