My goal is to grab screen shots from a Tektronix TDS 2XXX that is
connected to a NI GPIB-ENET adapter from a remote computer on the
network. Currently we are using Tektronix Open Choice Desktop to
accomplish this when the machine is directly connected to the computer
(via GPIB). When the machine is remote though, Open Choice is
'sometimes' unable to locate the instrument.
I'm pretty sure that this is related to VISA incompatibilities.
The Open Choice program also installs TekVISA which I think may be
incompatible with VISA over ethernet (just guessing).
The computer that it does work on:
Had labview 8 and NI-VISA 3.4 installed prior to the Open Choice
installation. After installation of Open Choice a message came up
saying: 'The iInstalled visa32.dll is not a Tektronix version of
VISA. Either disable this program by removing it from the Startup
directory, or reinstall TekVISA.'. After removing TekVISA
configuration from the startup Menu the Open Choice program worked.
The computer that it doesn't work on:
This computer is used a lot and is very hard to get on. Labview 8
is also installed, but I don't know which was on there first. I
could be wrong, but I don't think that TekVISA is installed.
What I would like to do is create a way (installation method or other
way) to get Open Choice to work over the network on every computer or
at least just get an understanding as to why this is happening.
