gpib hangs - any way to clear it programatically?

I have exactly the same problem with Agilent power meters.  What did you do to resolve the issue?

Hi Christiana,

This is a 2-year old thread so it might be hard to get the previous user's answer. We should start from scratch. What is your current setup? Does pressing the "local" button also fix the issue?

No. Putting the meters into local does not fix the problem. I have to recycle power on the power meter to get it to release the GPIB bus. The problem appeared several years ago when I started to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 64 bit. Every system I have had with Agilent E4418B power meters has had the identical problem. The meters randomly hang the GPIB bus. On a side note, why does the discussion board have such a dreadful interface? Everything is centered and the box I am typing in is very small. Is there another way to get to this discussion board? See attached screenshot. Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Christiana,  does this only happen with only one type of power supply? or can you swap out power supplys and the issue no longer exists?  you may also want to check the Agilent site/forums for any mention of this problem.

for issues with the forum itself please refer to http://forums.ni.com/t5/Feedback-on-NI-Discussion-Forums/bd-p/130

It happens with Agilent Power Meters. Agilent claims it is a GPIB problem. NI claims it is an Agilent problem. I am stuck in the middle with angry clients. In my case High Energy Physicists. The problem happens from time to time with other GPIB instruments, but mainly with the Agilent Power Meters, model E4418B. BTW what is up with this awful discussion GUI? See previous attachment of a screen shot.

You haven't attached a thing. The only small box is the one if you are using a phone - like me right now.
