LabVIEW Version conversion toolkit

Hello there,

I want to share my personal review about labview vi conversion from higher version to lower version.

Whenever i download any labview vi from internet or get from some other person, which is in higher version of labview then that i have on my pc, then i have to convert those vi each time by using some other work station which has those version installed.

Say, to convert vi in labview 2011 from labview 2012, i need labview 2012 installed on other workstation.

There must be certain utility which can be installed in say labview 2011 workstation and can convert VI saved in labview 2012 to labview 2011.

Really it saves time to find other workstation or to wait for some one's help. (especially when you have only one labview license)

As almost all new vi's available are on labview 2012, to use those we must have to convert those to suitable version.

Hi crossrulz,

I got your ideas from attached links.

But it reflect that either person should have SSP or labview update pack available or he has to go version conversion board or cloud storage (internet connection) for vi conversion.

But it may not be possible for offline users like in R&D areas etc.

So separate utility option would be best if integrated with labview.

By the way, thanks for exploring other options.

Where is the benefit to users that actually do pay and keep up with SSP? Are we really going to kudo this idea? Where is the benefit to NI?

Hi Dennis,

You are right.

But as of my thinking, keeping up with SSP will be beneficial in many ways (except of  version conversion) to users as well as NI. So its not only reason to not implement utility for version conversion.

And touse versionconversionboardwillincreaseinconveniency to user as he has to wait till their reply.

At least there should be utility on clouad which can convert the vi online immediately.

Then go to the VI Conversion Web Service idea and give it a Kudos.  This idea is a duplicate at least 4 times over.
