That's unusual, I'm not getting this trip up when I test it for those settings?
Could a more straightforward alternative be to use "DAQmx Start New File.vi"? This VI starts a new file the next time data is being written to disk any time it's called.
I don't believe there's a writing limit on how big a TDMS file you can create; however you'll need to consider how large a file LabVIEW (or whatever program you are using to analyse your files) can actually handle
