How to shutdown a Remote PC

I will place the Remote PC on top of a Tower Crane. When operation is finished, I believe it is not proper to just remove the power while the PC and VI is still running. I would appreciate any advise on how can i shutdown the PC to avoid system trouble.

hi there,

under winXP you can shut down the computer on the commandline with "shutdown" (see windows online help for more info), just use the system exec.vi. don't know what about windows < XP...

Thanks Chris.

Now I can shutdown the PC within my settings of 10 seconds. Once the shutdown command is executed, the running program will STOP, close the LabVIEW program, close the WINDOW and shuts off the PC.

Works with Windows 2000 and NT 4, shipped as part of the NT 4 resource kit for NT4

There was also shutgui.exe which did a similar job with a graphical user interface, the same is now performed from an MMC Snap in (Manegement Console, in the control panel on XP select Administrative Tools|Computer Management).

Also available was uptime.exe which was nice to find out just how smug you could be about the amount of time since your systems last re-boot.
