Solved!

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to find a way to download NI-DAQmx version 8.7.2. If anyone knows where I can access it, I’d really appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi

I attach the readme for version 8.7.2.

The still available version 9.0 should cover most bases.

Regards

Hi,

I’m currently using an old Windows XP system equipped with LabVIEW 8.6 and DAQmx 9.3.5. I'm encountering an "Error 10001" related to the legacy "Traditional DAQ" sub-VI DIO Port Config.vi.

After searching the NI forums, I found a post suggesting that this issue may be caused by a compatibility conflict between the Traditional DAQ driver and DAQmx versions 8.8/8.9 when used with older DIO devices. The recommended solution was to downgrade to DAQmx 8.7.2:
https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Error-10461-10008-DIO-Port-Config-Legacy-lvdaq-dll/m-p/947104

Given this, I believe DAQmx 8.7.2 might be the only viable solution for resolving the issue. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could point me to a source where I can download this version.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards

The source for your setup files should be the media you received when you ordered the LV8.6 license…

Otherwise you might ask NI directly, given that you have a valid license that includes support from NI!

There are other "viable solutions"!

One might include replacing that old WinXP computer with a modern Win11 system, maybe replacing the old DAQ device with a fresh one and (re)writing the LabVIEW code with a recent version…

Hi again

Another path that may be worth checking would be to use an older version of NI-DAQmx than 8.7.2.

Oddly the 8.7.x and 8.8.x versions are not available for download. But version 8.6 is :

https://download.ni.com/#support/daq/pc/ni-daq/daqmx/8.6/

The catch with this version is that it only supports up to LV 8.5. It is too old for LV 8.6.

But you can use the old trick to just install it anyway. Assume you have not installed LV 8.5 ( or temporarily change the folder name for it ) then you just select LV 8.5 support during NI-DAQmx installation. The installer will create a nice LV 8.5 folder with everything in it. You can then copy the content to the LV 8.6 folder. Maybe do a mass compile before copying.

Happy hacking

Just checking to make sure...

Are you interacting with the *same* device via both DAQmx and Traditional NI-DAQ?   That's generally a no-no.  My recollection is that you need to perform a device reset when changing from one driver to the other.  And a less reliable part of my memory suggests that programmatic resets took a somewhat unpredictable amount of time and weren't certain to work.

Back in the early years of DAQmx I *did* make multiple derivative apps that used both drivers simultaneously, but I only ever used one driver or the other for any given DAQ device.  (I had one older device that DAQmx never supported).  That worked fine.

ALERT! LabVIEW's subscription-only policy came to an end (finally!). Unfortunately, pricing favors the captured and committed over new adopters -- so tread carefully.

There is another place to look at:

https://download.ni.com/#support/drivercd/

In this directory there are driver cds / dvds for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Maybe DAQmx 8.7.2 is in there too.

Hi

Brilliant find by UliB.

Those drivers fills the void from the past drivers up to 8.6 to the currently downloadable 9.0 and on-wards.

Seems to include the versions 8.7.2, 8.8.0, 8.9.5 and 9.3.5.

While I am at it, I have been wondering about an elusive NI-DAQ (Legacy) version, 7.5 :

https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/compatibility/17/traditional-ni-daq--legacy--and-labview...

All the NI-DAQmx versions of that time accepted the presence of the NI-DAQ 7.4.4f5 version.

So why list a version 7.5, nowhere to be found ?

Hi UliB (and all),

Thanks for the information! I was able to download DAQmx 8.7.2 using the DCD-2008-AUG link you provided.

Unfortunately, the Error 10001 still persists after the installation. I’ll go ahead and start a new thread to ask about potential solutions.

Best regards,

That was only really "released" as a preliminary beta release. Supposedly to be released as a full version but then abandoned as all the effort was put entirely into DAQmx.

https://download.ni.com/#support/daq/pc/ni-daq/traditional/7.5-Beta/

There also was a DAQmx 7.5 version: https://download.ni.com/#support/daq/pc/ni-daq/daqmx/7.5/
