NI Vision Assistant

I'm trying to employ batch processing on a series of 640x480 RGB images that I obtained from an avi file. I can perform the required analysis on one image, but using batch processing doesn't work. There seems to be something working, because the program runs through all 90 images and it takes a few minutes for the analysis to be performed, and then a message pops up that says "batch processing complete" but when I go to the folder in which the file should be located, there is nothing there. Is there some silly mistake I am making in the initial setup of the batch processing? I can't figure it out. Thank you to anyone who would like to try and solve this one.

Hi Chuck,

I am assuming you are running Vision Assistant 8.0.  In the Batch Processing Window, which inspection steps/images are you saving and how many?  When you open the "Save Results Setup" window are you creating separate files for each image inspected or one result file?  If you are saving an image in the inspection, what file format are you using?  Are you acquiring images from the harddrive or from a camera?  I would suggest going through the Help to verify that you have everything configured correctly.  When you open the NI Vision Assistant Help and search for "batch", you can look through the "Performing Batch Processing" topic.  In that document there is a link in step 4 for "configuring save options."  If you are still having problems locating your saved files, attaching screenshots of your Batch Processing window configuration to this thread may help us better understand your application.

Hi thanks for the reply but I figured it out, I was just saving the files in a stupid way, but I have another small difficulty. I'm using NI Vision Assistant 7.1, and I'm collecting an avi file from the camera that is saved to the hard drive. This avi file I upload into the NI Vision Assistant browser. I then perform a series of operations on the images and in the end what I want is a series of measurements that are just numbers. These numbers I need to perform other calculations. There are only three numbers per image that I acquire and there are on average 90 images that I upload into the browser. I save the resultant data using the 'Save Results' option in the Analysis Mode in the batch processing. I perform three different measurements on each image. In the end I save three files: each file contains one of the three measurements for all 90 images. The problem I have is that instead of just spitting out a bunch of numbers into the files, NI Vision Assistant saves a file that contains a bunch of headings such as the date and time that each measurement was taken, what the measurement was for, what it is called, etc. I don't want any of that information, all I want is a column matrix of numbers in each file. Is there a way to get rid of all that extrenuous information in Vision Assistant 7.1, or do I have to extract the numbers manually in an excel file?

Hi Chuck,

Since Batch Processing iterates a script over several images, this information (date, time, name, etc) is used to help document those results.  Currently these parameters are added to the file by default; therefore I would suggest as you had mentioned extracting the numeric values you need in a spreadsheet application.  Also, I would recommend submitting a product suggestion to add this feature to the Vision Assistant software.   Here is the link to our online suggestion submission page.   These suggestions are used by our R&D teams to improve the usability of our products.

Regards,

Vu
