It seems that you have not selected a camera. Be sure to use the IMAQ USB Init VI to initialize the session and identify a camera. Also, you could try using one of the USB examples, which should be installed ...Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\examples\IMAQ\imaqUSB examples.llb

The latest installer has LV 8.2 support (assuming you have Vision installed with LV 8.2 support). Use the installer located here:
Make sure you have the llb installed (Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\vi.lib\imaqUSB\imaqUSB.llb

I´ve installed labview 8.0 then vision assistant 7.1 then installed the "imaq_usb_installer_setup.exe" but i can´t find the llb described above, and also can´t find any example on the examples of labview 8.0 folder for the imaq driver , so i really don´t have a clue of what im doing wrong if someone can help me with this.

Hello, I am using a Sumix 150M camera, which is not a web cam but an industrial USB camera who is said to be Directshow compatible. I have windows XP SP3 installed in French. I am able to acquire image (with Vision Assistant or the IMAQ USB VIs) with a regular webcam but not with the camera I want to use. Does this means that it is the direct show driver of the camera that is not working properly? Is there anything that can be done. Moreover, when I use the VI that lists the camera that are connected, it is the capture filter appears in the lists. So NI recognises the camera but won't acquire images from it. If there is nothing to do about the directshow driver not working properly, is their a procedure to acquire image from a USB camera that is not directshow compatible? Thanks for your inputs, VeroLat

There are some camera drivers that can have a camera enumerated but it doesn't mean the camera can be acquired from using DirectShow standard entry points to the camera DLL. I have even seem some camera drivers that have an item enumerated even when no camera is plugged in. It sounds like the IMAQ USB driver is installed correctly if other web cams work, but I don't think there's much we can do if your specific camera doesn't work.

Hi Brad,

I am using Sony Camcorder DCR-HC96E which has capacity to take pictures of 2048 X 1536.

But when I connect it through IEEE i-link cable and use USB Driver developed by Karissa Purcell; I can only able to acquire in 720 X 576 pixels only.

This is b'cos the image comming is in compressed format. Therefore is there any way out to acquire the image in original format of 2048 X 1536 by decompressing the signals.

Pl. help

Sandesh
