Without an OS?

I think you may be underestimating the importance of the OS in a computer, its really quite necessary.

There are lots of slimmed down OSes available, but I am afraid an actaul OS is something that is required.

Perhaps you mean without a User Interface? Have I misunderstoof your question?

Yeah, you're going to have to explain that one a bit more.

And the fact that you requested this information in PDF format is a clue that you're not really clear on what you want.

A LabVIEW program cannot be run without an OS. Period.

A non-LabVIEW program could, but that's outside the scope of this forum.

All computer system need a OS to function. I have my self made several OS then I have programmed 8 bits CPU for various task. Ok I have have to admit this OS have been very simple made to do more or less easy tasks. But anyway any computer without OS is not useful to anyone. Picture a PC with a unformatted HD. It is not much you can do with this computer. IT is first then you format the HD an install anything from the old DOS system, Windows, Windows CE, or Linux, that you can use the computer as a tool.

Are you looking for something like this?

Oops, this the LabVIEW forum... Perhaps some embedded solutions might help you.

As many have already said, you really need some sort of OS unless going witht he embedded solution linked above.  I am guessing you are looking to run a LabVIEW application since you are posting this to the LabVIEW forums.  If you are already familiar with LV, any embedded products might be a good solution.  The other option for you might be a real-time operating system.  It is still an operating system but is much more reliable.  If you already have a LV application written, there may not be that many changes you would need to make to move to this type of OS.

Could you give some reasons why you want to run an application without an OS? Then we can make some recommendations on which way to go based on what your needs are.

Take a look here, and also note the related links i the bottom http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2733

Then you are using Labview RT on a PC, a real time OS will be installed in the process. The OS is the PharLap, Real-Time OS ;). So you will indeed be using a OS

But at least it isn't one of the ones given as an example:

on a pc without OS (window,linux,...)?

So the real time OS is fine? In that case look at the excellent KB that Coq Rouge posted! šŸ™‚
