Is the vision system CVS 1454 work with CCD Camcorder?

I have CVS1454 which only have 32 MB memory and I have VBAI2.6. If I choose to upgrade memory I beleive I can use VBAI3.5 with the USB camera.

at the moment I only have one Allied CCD industrial Firewire camera. I am looking to use two cameras. But I don't have money to buy the 2nd CCD firewire camera nor upgrade the software to be able to use USB. Each solution would cost me more than 1500 AUD.

I am trying to build new interface to use with USB web cam or CCD camcorder with the VBAI version2.6

Is it going to work? any advice? I am a student looking to do some research in this area.

if I don't use VBAI, I can use Labview RT model, LV sw base and Vision Development module (all the same version) is this correct? and what is  the application builder ?  is it another module to do some programing? please suggest.

Hey Jumbojet,

In regards to the cameras that you can use with the NI CVS1454, you can use any 1394 camera that is DCAM compliant. So, unfortunately, you will not be able to use a USB camera with the CVS because there are no usb ports on this device. In regards to the camcorder, you can use it as long as it is a firewire camera that is DCAM compliant.

In regards to using LabVIEW, you are correct when you say that you can use the LabVIEW Real Time. Check out this Manual for a little more information on how to set that up.

Application Builder is an add-on toolkit to the LabVIEW base software that allows you to create distributable applications. So, you can write code in LabVIEW and then create executables. This toolkit would not really be linked with the rest of your CVS system.

Hope this helps.
