I'm trying to re-install NI software after NI-Scope 3.9.7 broke it down - the Labview now crashes with memory violation errors, the boards are not found by MAX etc....
I did a complete uninstall of all NI software through control panel (twice) and now trying to reinstall it, starting with NI-DAQmx 9.6
Attached is an error message I get at about 74% completion.
If I click "Continue", I get few more similar errors (Expert framework, Timing, etc, etc)
Mind that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress is not set in registry. Is it an issue with borked distribution files from ni.com?

Try to re-run the DAQmx installer with the /reinstall option to try and force-reinstall all files:
setup.exe /reinstall /log <logpath>
post the logfile after it runs.

Here's the log. I have to compress due to ni.com attachment size limit.
Fedor.

OK, the log points to some corruption of software lying around...let's try this...
uninstall everything NI (again, I know, I'm sorry)
look in c:\windows\system32 for a file called "niorbmap" (no extension)...if it is there...it shouldn't be...so delete it
reboot
double check that the file did not return after you reboot...just in case...
Now run setup again just as I asked above (with the /reinstall and logging options) and let us know what happens. If it fails post the log again.

A file called "niorbmap" is not present. I don't know what else to fix....
The uninstall usually reports an error once or twice that something is unfinished from previos install.....

hmm...that's weird...can you search your hard drive for that file? You're on XP, right?
in the meantime I'll re-look at the log file you sent.

The file is not present on HDD.

Do I understand it right that NI software on this PC is broken beyond repair and I need to re-format the system HDD now to bring it back to working state?

That would be my next step if you can do it without much trouble. That will get you back up and running.

This would accually be too much trouble due to warious custom drivers and tools I need running.
Is there any guide/tool for clean removal of all the NI traces for subsequent reinstal in the year of 2012? I googled up some stuff dating way back to the beggining of milenia which would most probably break things even more.
