Installed NI-DAQmx 8.3. No DAQmx in MAX. NewHardware saw USB-6008.

I have pretty much the same issue. I have a NI 6008 plugged in, recognized by the Device Manager, but not in the MAX. Here are the answers for your questions:

1.) It is recognized in Device Manager under Data Aquisition Devices - USB-6008

2.) The icon is the blue NI icon, without any extra mark on it.

3.) Under the Data Aquisition Devices (in Device Manager) the only one thing is the USB-6008

4.) The Device status is "This device is working properly"

Tried to troubleshoot based on many previous discussion on these forums like:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/1448A8AC665EE0EA8625703F004A4410?OpenDocument

etc.

No one worked.

Thanks.

Hi,

The first thing I would do is look at this thread. If you are using any of these versions of DAQmx, I would suggeset either upgrading or applying a patch. If you decide to upgrade, make sure to look at this KB first.

If this doesn't fix the problem, let me know.

I am using DAQmx 9.2.3 (seen in MAX under My System\Software), MAX 4.7.7. The 2011 DVDs just arrived, so I uninstalled and installed everything (on Windows 7). Still not working.

Whenever I reinstall everything after a "complete" uninstall, some files in the new NI folder are dated back in time, so I guess something stays on hard drive which is reused, and probably not supposed to.

Time-by-time I get a MAX Database Connection Error also. I went through these steps:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/86256F0E001DA9FF86256FFD005B827C

NI 6008 still not detected by MAX, but detected by Device Manager.

I need to mention, that the NI 6008 was working a while ago, and this problem appeared after a crash meanwhile using it. Since then, these steps I listed above were performed several times, but can't make it work.

Hi,

Can you make sure that the following services are started? NI Configuration Manager and NI Device Loader. You can find these by going to Control Panel » Administrative Tools » Services. If these services are already started, try restarting them. If they are not started, first change the Startup Type to "Automatic" and then start them.

NI Configuration Manager was Automatic and Started.

NI Device Loader was Automatic, but not Started. I started. The 6008 module still not recognized by MAX.

I restarted the computer, the NI Device Loader again Automatic, but not Started.

Hi,

Try following the steps in this KB and then restart your computer and see if the 6008 is recognized.

Thanks,

I've just tried the link you posted. I still have the same issue.

After I followed those stepts. NI 6008 is recognized in Device Manager, but not in the MAX.

After restart, the NI Device Loader is not started, again. NI 6008 recognized in Device Manager, but not in the MAX.

Thanks.

Hi,

Do you have any other computer with the DAQmx driver installed? If so, try using the 6008 with that computer and see how it works. Also, do you have another 6008 that you can test with? It would be nice to try and narrow down this issue further.

Thanks,

I do have multiple NI 6008. I do have more computers.

NI modules work fine with all other computers.

Just a question regarding the my previous post. Why do I have my Device Loader stopping at each restart, even after I did those setups you recommended.

Did you also do the part about the settings under the "recovery" tab?  The way that article is written makes it look like those are steps for Windows 2000 only, but should be done for Win 7 as well.  Once you start the service manually using those steps, can you then see the device in MAX under My System > Devices and Interfaces if you don't restart?
