Problems with Labview 8.0 and Daqmx driver for linux redhat

Hi there,
I tried installing the driver for daqmx downloaded from
NI website to redhat enterprise 9 along with labview
8.0.
I have two problems when I tried setting up my daqmx
system:
1)When I load my daqmx .vi files created from windows it
keeps on asking me for location of "nilvaiu.so". I tried
searching the whole linux drive for the above file but no
luck.
2) When it couldn't find the file, I click on cancel to
skip the files to continue loading the library like daqmx
timing.vi, daq mx reading.vi .... and then my program
won't run probably. It keeps on giving errors about
corruption of polymorphic of subvi and vi files.
Is this because the file "nilvaiu.so" is missing or is it
because of something else?
Your response will be much appreciated,
Thanks

Hello,

The nilvaiu.so file you mentioned is required by LabVIEW to use DAQmx.  It might also be called libnilvaiu.so.

Are you able to run any of the DAQmx shipping examples, or create a new DAQmx application on your Linux machine?

If you are creating LabVIEW VIs on a windows machine that use DAQmx and transferring them to your Linux machine you need to have DAQmx 8.0 or greater installed on your windows machine.  If you already have DAQmx 8.0 installed on your windows machine, and are still not able to open your VI on your Linux machine you might have a corrupt or incomplete installation of DAQmx on your Linux machine.  To fix this you might try reinstalling DAQmx.

Finally, I see you are using Red Hat 9.  Are you able to try this on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 since DAQmx officially supports this distribution?

Thanks for your reply,
Yes you are correct. The .vi file I am using was imported from Labview 7.1 in windows XP. I installed labview 8.0 and Daqmx driver on Linux.
And the linux distribution is Redhat Enterprise 9 (Strike or something like that)
I can't seem to find nilvaiu.so when prompted and then the program keeps on asking me for location of daqmx timing.vi or some similar files even though the driver has been installed. Then once I pointed it the right direction it keeps on giving "sub-polymorphic error"

Hello,

What version of DAQmx do you have installed on your windows XP machine with LabVIEW 7.1?  If you have a version of DAQmx before 8.0, you will need to update your driver on your windows machine and then resave your VI.

After you do this, hopefully you will be able to open the VI on your Linux machine.  Also, are you able to find libnilvaiu.so?

I think the file was created by using daqmx driver 7.1 on windows XP before driver 8.0 was released.
I will try it again by the method you suggesting, but I am not sure about libnilvaiu.so, can it substitute for nilvaiu.so when prompted on redhat?

Thanks again for the reply,

Hello,

Yes, if you get prompted for nilvaiu.so you can direct it to libnilvaiu.so.  Once you point LabVIEW to a file, any other references to that file in your VI will also point there automatically.
