nidaq channels not visible to opc client

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a NiDAQ 9188 connected to a PC via ethernet. All of the modules are visible in MAX and check out OK but if I try to connect using OPC, I can only see one item "ServerPollingRate". Is there something I need to do to get the NI OPC server to pubish the channels?

This is my first time with the 9188, I have used compact fieldpoint expansion chassis many times before without any trouble.

Hey,

Are you running an NI OPC server on the PC? What are you trying to read with/ publish to?

It would be useful to have a system diagram or description, and what you have done so far in terms of setting up.

Here is a pretty good overview of how to set up OPC with DAQmx, it might have the answers you are looking for.

Ian,

Thanks for the link to the overview document. I wasn't aware that I needed to define shared variables for the channels. Now that I have done that I can read the channels via OPC.

Thanks for your help.

Tony
