To use a USB-6008 with linux you will need to use DAQmx Base. This will also install examples in /usr/local/natinst/nidaqmxbase/examples.

Ubuntu is not an officially supported platform of National Instruments, so that could be the issue that we are running into.

NI-DAQmx now supports Linux Desktop but does not support Linux Mint and USB-6008.

NI-DAQmx Base is unsupported since a long time. I think they stopped doing anything for NI-DAQmx Base around 2016 when they focused on getting NI-DAQmx for Linux running. It's not likely that you can get NI-DAQmx Base working on a recent Linux distribution without some serious work.
