Hi ,
I have PXIe-1065 with a few cards like 6535 and 6561....
All the drivers are installed and I see them in the NI MAX software.
I have this problem if I opened my computer and the win has been uploaded , then I turning on my pxi....
But the cards aren't identifying ! I'm opening MAX and no driver is identified......
Is there any command or refresh ?! To tell the computer "the pxi is on check for the cards"...?

Kobi,
The PXIe/PXI chassis is an extension of the computers' busses, your chassis needs to be on before the computer is on. Otherwise, the BIOS will not "see" the devices. There are some situation when a "soft" reboot (rebooting the computer without turning the chassis off) may cause issues identifying your devices. Try powering everything down, turning on the chassis and a few seconds later turn on the computer.
I hope this helps,
JC

Hey Kobi,
To add to what JC mentioned, you can find this information about the order of what to power on in your MXI or MXI Express documentation (or docs for whatever hardware you are using for your PXI expansion). For example check out the following document called Set Up Your MXI-Express x4 for PXI Express System, and specifically the section on page 7 called Powering On the MXI-Express x4 System. In this section you will see the following explanation:
"Complete the following steps to power on the system.
1. Power on all of the expansion chassis in any order you choose.
2. Power on the host.
Typical PCI-PCI bridges and switches are used to add PCI devices to a PCI hierarchy in which all the bridges and devices are contained within a single chassis. Because of this, BIOSes and operating systems make the assumption that all PCI devices in the entire hierarchy will be available as soon as code execution begins at power-up time. This assumption means that all of the expansion chassis must be turned on before the host PC for the BIOS and OS to correctly configure a MXI-Express system.
Note There are no requirements on how MXI-Express expansion chassis are powered up relative to each other, as long as they are all on before the computer is powered on. "

Hi,
i'm new here and experiencing a very alike problem. I hope it is ok to ask here instead of opening a complete new thread.
I do also use a MXI system (but MXI3) and have some PXI5122 cards connected to it, using PXI 1002 chassis. It would be helpful if there was one way to start the chassis after the PC is booted. According to the information given previously in this thread this seems not possible?
I read the installation guide, but it did not make perfectly clear if first powering up the chassis is always recomended, or only at the first run.
So I just want to ask for a definite answer, should i give up here and suffer through the inconvinience of some additional restarts, or did i misunderstand something and there could be a way? Even if it isn't possible at all, I would be very thankfull for your answer!

Generally we do like to keep issues to a single thread, so next time I would reccomend doing so, but we can also answer your question here.
You are correct, the chassis is basically seen as an extension of the PCI bus of your computer. Just like you can not pull out or put in a PCI card while your computer is running, you can not put a card into a chassis while the computer is running.
I am not quite sure about what you mean about first run, but the procedure you should follow if you wish to use your PXI chassis is.
1. Power chassis and PC off.
2. Connect chassis to PC, make sure all modules are in the chassis.
3. Power on the chassis.
4. Power on the PC.
