VME bus timeout

Dear Sir/ma'am,

I'd like to know on what factors does VME Bus Timeout depends. I require this information for one of my projects.

Is there any value to fix up, actually i wanted to use it without providing any kind of on-board jumper settings thus providing various values.

Awaiting your valuable reply,
Anand

Anand,

I have read over your post, and unfortunately I am having trouble understanding what you are asking.

Could you please make another post that includes some additional details of what you are trying to accomplish and also include some background on what you are trying to do with your project.

With those details, I think that this forum might be better equipped to help answer your question.

Hi Jed,

Thank you first of all.

I knew that BTO should be longer than the slowest Slave's response time.(Is this the only factor?? If any Plz let me know.)

But as of now i dont have that info. So is there any Value for it which is valid so that i can fix it up.

For your product VXI/VME-MXI, you provided jumper setting for this value and provided 100,200,or 400 microseconds and mentioned 100 as the default value.

I'd like to know how you came to such a conclusion. In other words what factors made you decide these values.

It would be of great help. If things are not clear pls revert back to me.

Thanks again

Anand,

I believe that the timeout values on the VME bus are just part of the VME bus specification.

If you would like to learn more about the VME or VXI buses, I would suggest searching for "vme bus specification" on a website like Google. This should point you to some additional details on the operation and timing of the VME bus.

Good luck with your project.

Jed,

I've h've already gone through the specification manual and they are part of Specs. But it doesn't specify the value instead it gives a range in between to operate.
So the thing is i need to know what are the factors effecting it.

And i'd like to know what should i know about the system which i'm designing for so that i can put the question to the concerned person.

Let me tell you i've gone through several existing products and lots of technical websites for gathering info. And finally i came to know that there are some factors to consider to fix BTO up.

You may contact any Technical person who wroked on your VXI/VME-MXI Product which helps us in finding a solution.

Thank you and best rgds,
Anand G

Anand,

I have looked back through all your posts, and I am unable to find which products you are using. Could you tell me which "VXI/VME-MXI Product" you are using that you would like some additional details on? With that I could check to see if there is any additional documentation about the Bus Timeouts.
