I would like to have the possibility to select one x-axis for all curves in VIEW- as it is possible in the reports

In the DIAdem interface, there are menubar buttons available that allow the user to "Save ___ As...", whether it's a script, SUD, layout, etc.  In the script editor, there is also a "Save All" button that saves all of the opened scripts.  However, 9 times out of 10 I just want to save the current layout/script/whatever.  It would be great to have a standard "Save" button either in addition to or in place of the "Save As..." button in the menubar.

(Yes, I know I can use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+S" or click "File --> Save" but these options are not as readily apparent as the "Save As..." or "Save All" icons, so I find myself clicking one of those and then having to click several more times just to get out of it...when all I wanted was a one-click save.)

An added benefit would be (like in the Script editor), if the file has not changed then the "Save" icon could be grayed out.  That way the user would know that the current state of the current script/layout/etc was saved to disk.

Greetings NI Wizards,

My compliments on a very fine software package, which I admittedly have only begun to explore via your trial period.  I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I only recently discovered it though we've been trying for more than a year to figure out how we could attach large amounts of sensor data onto our CAD models (the only real way to look at it).  This seemed to be the obvious future of data (experimental) visualization.  Shame on me for not looking beyond my familiar neighborhood of NI hardware and LabVIEW.

Wonderful as this tool is, might it be possible to jigger the solid model rendering so that the user-defined color palette in "surfaces/color surfaces" resulted in true transparency when one chooses "no color"?  Right now it seems to just leave a grey part behind.  This would allow one to have parts of the solid model disappear over time. We're doing erosion experiments, and once a part of the model reaches a certain temperature, it dissolves.  This would be a fantastic way to visualize the data as we could watch both temperature changes and erosion of the model.  Others might have parts appear in time, making the model appear to grow.  There could be lots of animation possibilities as things blink in and out.

Cheers,

Steve

I would like to be able to copy a plot to the clipboard, either from View or Report.  At the moment I have to use a screen-capture tool like Snippy.

I am introducing DIAdem to our company at the moment and all my colleagues are surprised that DIAdem cannot do this.

A new fully featured harmonic cursor type in view for S&V applications, accessed by a button in the way that the other cursors are.  This is one of the major limitations we find with using the package.

Although I have seen the included script to implement a basic form of harmonic cursors, it is a bit cumbersome and only allows H1 to be dragged for example.

For example, if the Waveform X-Step Width of a waveform channel is "500", DIAdem VIEW synchronization - using the default playback rate of "1" - will playback one value every 500 seconds, as though it is assuming that the channel was recorded with one data point every 500 seconds.  If you set the Waveform X-Unit to "ms" (because you realize your data was recorded every 500 milliseconds), the playback rate of VIEW synchronization is still one value every 500 seconds.  The only way to adjust the playback speed is to adjust the VIEW synchronization playback rate.  It would be nice if VIEW synchronization playback respected channel units.

Hi all!!

I would like to be able to view the date of a time channel in a 2D Axis System. I know I can do it transfering it to DIAdem REPORT and then selecting the desired format in the axis, but I want to do it on VIEW.

I have tried with a waveform channel, a channel made of time stamps... I think it would a great feature!!

Thanks!!

When dragging and dropping a channel into a View or Report table from the Data Portal, no matter where you release the channel, it's always appended to the end.  This can be frustrating if you have a large number of channels in the table, forcing you to rearrange the table after each channel is added.

I would like to propose the ability to drop channels in-between columns of the table, OR append channels on the end.

I would think that the area you drag the channel into would decide where it inserts:

Between 2 channel headers (anywhere in the "Selected Channels" section or above) = Insert

Anywhere on the "Channel Contents" section, row numbers, or blank area without channels = Append to end

Thanks!

-Josh

When a large number of curves are displayed on a Report graph, it can be difficult to distinguish between the curves (even with different colors and shapes).  We had a user request the ability to hover over a curve and see the Y-Channel associated with that curve.  I think this would also be a neat idea for View (which already has some "hover" capabilities).  Multiple overlaid curves could either all be displayed (with color indicators?), or only display the top curve (since it's the visible one).

Waiting for very large measurement files to load can take very much time. In our case, we sometimes load a file to have an overview of the complete measurement and then zoom into some specific parts of the measurement.

Idea:

Do not load into memory all data as long as the user has not zoomed in a specific area.

For example: if a channel has 100000 values, for a complete overview of the measurement, only 50000 values would be used. And when the user zooms in, then all data in that area will be loaded.

This way it is much easier to look for important parts in a measurement without waiting for all data to be loaded.

I do not understand why it is not possible jet. After I Drag and Drop a Waveform inside VIEW. A possibility to change the x-Axis to absolute time should be possible.

The only way of doing it now is creating an extra Time Channel.Smiley Sad

While it's possible to find out from the DIAdem Help the explanations on the Operations and Special Variables in the Calculator, it would be a lot easier to add some brief descriptions in the tooltips when we mouse over them.

The current tooltips contain no useful information. If my mouse hovers over the Operations "ArcSin(Arg)", the tooltip just contains a simple repetition which serves no purpose (see attached screenshot).

Is it possible to expand NI Diadem View to an option that allows hiding of curves without changing the properties of the graph or curve.

See example in the attachments.

Thanks a lot

Bernhard

In DIAdem 2011 we now have the ability to conveniently Copy REPORT sheets and Append VIEW sheets, now it'd be great if we could Copy VIEW sheets (with script accessibility, of course).

I know this has been mentioned before, but doesn't have an "Idea Post" so thought I'd add it so it doesn't get lost.

Hi,

I would like to request th ability to "Freeze" columns in a view table so they stay on the left-hand side of the table as you scroll to the right.

The channel names/properties sticking at the top works brilliantly, but if you want to have a timestamp channel (or Timestamp, Speed, and Torque channels) visible when you have a view table with many channels you have 3 options:

  1) Scroll back and forth a lot

  2) Add a new occurrance of the channel(s) into the table and move it(them) to the correct spot

  3) Have 2 tables side-by-side and vertically scroll them both together manually

I would suggest 2 interfaces to select the columns to freeze at the left hand side of the table:

  1) Right-Click menu called something like "Lock Column(s) at Left" or "Freeze Column(s) to Left" (Or just "Lock/Freeze Column(s)")

  2) On the "Display" interface, have a "Lock/Freeze Left" checkbox on the columns in the Name/Format table (you may also want to have a "Lock to Left First # Channels" checkbox for the All/All of a group channel table options)  This should probably automatically move the columns selected to the top of the list so they appear in the order they will display in the table, as well as allowing the user to rearrange the leftmost columns (if they lock/freeze multiple columns)

Rather than asking for a change to the "Repeat Marker" to plot all the points (we'd prefer "Repeat Marker" in DIAdem VIEW to be "Every N Points" where N = 1 rather than "Up to N Points" where N = 100), I think it would be great if we could have a configurable DIAdem default set of VIEW items that could be saved via usercommand, script, or a file configuration so we could conveniently spread it to our users.

This could include colors, points and/or lines, "Repeat Markers" configuration, line width/size/fill.

The "Repeat Markers" option is the most important to us because we have had users in the past who didn't realize that they were only seeing 100 points of their data, which can be a very bad thing (for example if you've turned off curve color and are looking for outliers in 150 points of data).  On the other hand, I can understand not wanting to plot 2 billion points on a graph, hence the ability for an administrative body (or individual users) to configure the graph defaults.

The DIAdem prefix for hex data is $ and as I am aware you must use this.  Most programs use the prefix 0x.  There should be an option to chose one, the other or none.

While looking at data I will often want to know the mean average of a section of data (max and min are also nice to see).  It would be fantastic if in VIEW mode, you could highlight a section of data (by flagging it) and see in some area of VIEW (like the "Common Properties" section or maybe even a pop-up) statistics of the selected data without having to copy the flagged data and do an analysis of it. This function would go really nice in the drop-down area where you can choose to copy, move or interpolate the flagged data points.

Hi,

I noticed channels can be dragged and drop everywhere but in the calculator. Ths channel list is quite OK when havin a few channel in the Data portal but becomes fast ´a waste of time on bigger projects. Allowing to drag channel in ot would make it faster to use and also a bit more user friendly.

I think DIADem would be a great solution if it came with a web-based client which would allow users to:

- Login remotely using a standard web-browser

- Allow users to access data from their web-browser without having to install any exectuables or active-x components

- Basically allows similar functionality of the VIEW tool, execpt make it web-based.

DIADem would be a great collaboration tool if it could be used without having to install a bunch of EXEs on every computer.  And going for a Citrix-style thin-client solution is just too costly.  Built-in web-based access would be awesome.
